I’ve finally finished F&M’s This Winter Revisited video. And they like it to boot!
Well with transvestite drug taking dolls and nutella addicted antics ensuing I wasn’t sure they would.
As soon as they’re happy to release it, I’ll post it up here.
… and Edinburgh.
Wishbone Theatre are crossing the
Atlantic to bring their acclaimed production of Bashir Lazhar to Europe. Antwerp, Kiev, London and Edinburgh. I’ll post dates once I have them but London is Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July at the Riverside Theatre in Hammersmith.
You would be insane to miss it. I saw the production at the Edmonton Fringe festival and yes I am biased, Michael is a good friend, but it was incredibly powerful.
Okay so winter is over here in the UK. But not in Edmonton. Which is lucky for me because I get to edit F&M‘s video for their song This Winter.
They’ve filmed it themselves on an iPhone and I’ve been tasked with making it all fit together coherently.
I’ve downloaded the files and they’re sitting in a folder on my desktop. This weekend I’m going to start having a look at the ‘magic’ they’ve committed to ones and zeroes.
And it’s about time I started using this site a little more. Plus maybe setting myself a few goals for 2011.
Where am I now?
I’m working for these guys in King’s Cross, London and we’re doing some exciting things. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve interviewed Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Sigourney Weaver! I’ve also helped facilitate some workshops for young adults with muscular dystrophy to help them think about how to approach making a documentary.
So that’s the day to day grind taken care of. What do I want to actually achieve for myself?
Well one thing I’m looking forward to (hint Ryan) is getting my hands on some footage from F&M they want cutting into a video. A little reminder to myself to chase that up!
But these are the big aims -
- write a feature length script.
- make a short film.
- explore some documentary options.
- do some serious outdoor climbing.
With number 1. I’ve got two scripts on the go, I’ve just got to dedicate the time to finishing them (easier said than done) and then more importantly be honest with myself as to how good they are!!
With number 2. I’ve got a small team of friends/ professionals lined up to help me with a 48hr film challenge coming up (more details soon).
With number 3. There’s a possibility of a collaboration with a good friend. Also there’s a little film that’s been kicking around in my head now for over 4 years. Is this year the do something about it?
With number 4. I’ve just got to keep plugging away at that wall
So it’s not looking too scary.
I’m kind of intrigued by this. I came across it in a random google search for script competitions.
I have this idea about a world where moon landings are still a yearly occurrence only none of them could be deemed a success in that no-one has ever returned. Neil Armstrong died on the surface of the moon. Buzz Aldrin too, along with anyone else that followed. After the initial public outrage and shock, there were no naysayers when NASA threw another young crew up the following year. If anything the audience was larger and if at all possible invested even more emotion into what seemed doomed right from the off.
So 50 years on in 2019, they are essentially one-way trips. Suicide missions that have become mass media reality TV events in which the public vote for and actively choose their heroes with the ‘right stuff’ before they’re flown up to their certain deaths.
Maybe not as upbeat as the competition would possibly suggest it’s looking for but … something to do of an evening. Doubt I’ll get anywhere near the required 80,000 words however I’ll give it a go.
We’re packing up and moving to London. I fly next week. In the meantime I’m finishing up some of my Vue Weekly projects.
Vue Weekly are organising a film competition for ‘sexy’ movies. I’m making a trailer. As yet there are no entries so my first job was to create my own ‘dirty’ movie.
I’m working for Vue Weekly magazine at the moment. Putting together a promo for their new offshoot Vue Media. They’re setting up a video arm to make promos and EPK’s for bands and musicians.
I’m having to grapple with my rusty After Effects skills!!! Good practice though.
Check out the results here.
